In Building Construction, a layer of plaster which is extruded between two layers of Paper or Cardboard and is used for interior ceilings and walls, is called a Drywall. We don’t use wet materials like cement or plaster in installation and execution of them, hence the name Drywall.
Drywalls are in “prefabricated walls” category, which today, is more common than traditional walls with unreinforced building materials. (compact bricks, clay bricks, unreinforced cement blocks.)
Drywalls are widely popular in America, Canada and many other developed countries and are the primary material for constructing interior partition walls in concrete, steel and wooden structures.
Some of the main advantageous of using drywalls compared with traditional walls are:
- Reduction in dead-loads in the buildings and as a result, a significant decline in the impact of an earthquake.
- Removal of materials such as Iron profiles, Rebars, Bricks, Cement and Clay Blocks, Sand, Cement and Plaster after the construction of frame and ceilings, that saves the costs of wasting the materials and transporting them to the floors.
- No need of welding tools.
- Reduces the costs of electricity consumption.
- High execution speed (2 or 3 times compared to traditional methods.)
- An Impressive capability in thermal insulations.
- An Impressive capability in sound insulations.
- Easy access to Mechanical and Electrical facilities when a problem occurs.
- A significant decline in construction wastes and the costs due to cleaning and taking them out of the building.
- A Constant and Standard Quality in of Drywall materials due to industrial production
- An Increase in the useful space of each unit due to reducing the thickness of the partitions.
- Has less weight than traditional materials with the same thickness.
- Reduces the transportation costs due to the light weight.
the main advantage of Drywalls compared to Traditional Walls is using less workforce, more cleanliness, producing less waste, no moisture and requiring no time to dry up, which results in optimizing time and costs.
